Take Eleven: Retro at the CoHo!

On Friday evening Guerilla GayFare Halifax joined forces at a fabulous new venue called the Company House. Located at 2202 Gottigen Street, this intimate spot opened in the new year and will host local artists and events in the North end. For information on upcoming music at the CoHo, click here.

The crowd gathered promptly at 11pm and were brought to their feet with an interactive mix of retro tunes and crowd surfing tambourines. A special thanks to DJ Motlette for an amazing night of music and fun.

Stay tuned for announcements and a Facebook invite for the March takeover in a few weeks. We suspect the straight crowd will be green with envy when we regroup for another takeover in downtown Halifax ;)

Take Ten: Maxwell's Plum

For the Guerillas' 10th outing our secret venue was Maxwell's Plum, a popular downtown watering hole with a laid-back atmosphere.

We descended on Maxwell's all dressed up in plaid of various colours. By midnight the venue was completely packed with over 60 guerillas donned in plaid. The distinctly dressed crowd led to some confusion from the regulars, who weren't sure if it was a special "gay night" and some who were worried that wearing plaid meant they were gay as well!

On our eighth takeover the Halifax Guerillas gathered for a queer Halloween dance put on by Girl'ish Productions at Coconut Grove.

BACK TO SCHOOL!

Thanks to all who were able to make it out for the North End double header at Fred & Gus' Pub. Many of you arrived in your "Prep-School-Cool" attire.

A special thank you to Fred Connors and Joel Flewelling for hosting the first stop of the evening at FRED Salon & Gallery and to DJ Motlette for spinning her old school jams.

Take Six: Stripes @ Fizz!

This has been one of our best Guerilla GayFare events in Halifax to date! The venue was jam-packed for Take Six: Get Your PRIDE Fix! So many of you were able to make it out for the 6th event. The music was pumping and many took advantage of the patio as well. We’ve estimated approximately 120+ Guerillas showed up in stripes throughout the night.

Thanks to the staff at Fizz for hosting this PRIDE week event, for their excellent service and filling our glasses with plenty of bubbles. You rock! We really appreciate how supportive and accommodating the venues have been. It is certainly encouraging and we look forward to planning the next event. We've already received interest from other venues in the city looking to take part! Stay tuned for more details…

A special thanks to DJ Motlette for supplying the sounds and keeping the spot rocking ‘til close. Everyone had a blast!

Take Five: The Split Crow

Our June Guerilla GayFare event was held at The Split Crow on Thursday, June 26th. This was the last Halifax event for two of our founding members who have left us for school and work in our Nation’s capital. Congratulations to Philana and Melinda on the big move! We’ll miss you both and hope you’re able to take part in Guerilla GayFare events in Ottawa!

Although the line-up was lengthy and the place was PACKED, a respectable 30+ Guerillas showed up in red throughout the night to take part. There was plenty of mingling with the crowd and a few confused patrons spent the night barking up the wrong tree as they say... he he

Thanks to everyone for sending in Guerilla reinforcements to ROCKIN THE GAYBOURHOOD II. This was an exciting event in support of Halifax Pride 2008 and we were happy to show our support by incorporating Guerilla GayFare into the mix. A great cause and another great turnout.

Guerilla GayFare Halifax: Take Three! Mosaic

The April Guerilla GayFare Halifax event at Mosaic was another great success. A large troop of "Guerillas" have shown up each time which is fantastic. Our numbers continue to grow each month and we're excited to plan the next event in May!
